Educate yourself
on performance-enhancing substances and other illegal drugs.
Know that young people look up to you
and that your actions have consequences on our youth.
Get involved
and spread a positive message about resisting drugs and doping.
Create an anti-drug message.
The Message Maker allows you
to create stickers, magnets, and more that express those things
that stand between you and drugs including baseball, basketball,
tennis, track, skating, and soccer. The Message Maker
can be useful for coaches, parents, or athletes looking to
obtain drug prevention materials for their team.
Get involved and spread a positive message about resisting drugs and doping. As an athlete, whether you are a high school swimmer or a professional football player, what you say to young people will be heard. Get involved by helping educate young people about drugs. In communities across the country, your leadership and commitment can go a long way toward ensuring bright futures for young people.
I believe that if you get caught on drugs, you should get a lifetime ban. There's no need for you in our sport, and there's no room for you in our sport.

Start a "Student Athlete Leadership Team" (SALT) or get involved with an existing program. The SALT program trains high school student-athletes to deliver alcohol and drug abuse prevention programs to grade school children in their districts.
Gregg Zaun of the Kansas City Royals recently said that it was important for him to be part of ONDCP's Athletics Initiative because he wanted children to know he was drug free and that it was cool to be drug free.
The Orlando Magic's Grant Hill makes a point of saying that he is drug free because drug use among athletes " sends the wrong message." Gregg's and Grant's leadership sends a loud-and-clear message to our young people that to be a winner you have to play drug free.
Charlie Ward of the New York Knicks recently told Source Sports: "I preach to my teammates all the time about living right. There's nothing drugs do for you that is good for you. Whether it's steroids, cocaine, or marijuana, it's all no good for you."
Dante Washington, a soccer star with the Columbus Crew, is working with a local community anti-drug coalition to get the message out to young people that being drug free is the only way to play.
