WHITE HOUSE DRUG CZAR TO VISIT MIAMI
Will Highlight Importance of Local Prevention, Treatment,
and Law Enforcement Efforts
Washington, DCJohn P. Walters, Director of National Drug Control Policy, will be visiting Miami, Florida Wednesday, May 29th to promote President Bush's 2002 National Drug Control Strategy. President Bush's Strategy calls for a 10 percent reduction in drug use over the next two years and a 25 percent reduction over the next five years. Director Walters will make a series of stops in the Miami area to meet with local prevention and treatment advocates, as well as law enforcement officials. Walters will also receive briefings and observe demonstrations on current efforts to reduce the flow of illegal drugs into the United States through Florida and to improve border security.

Tour
of U.S. Customs operations at the Miami Seaport
Director Walters will receive briefings and will tour the inspection facilities at the Seaport. Open press tour includes demonstration of state-of-the-art container inspection equipment. A media availability will follow the tour.
