Bulletproof Vest Partnership and Body Armor Safety Initiative

The Bulletproof Vest Partnership program and the Body Armor Safety Initiative serve to save the lives of law enforcement officers by helping State, local and tribal governments equip their law enforcement officers with vests and other safety equipment.

Civil Air Patrol: Counterdrug Operations
Sponsoring Agency: Civil Air Patrol (CAP)
CAP is authorized to support DoD, DEA, U.S. Customs Service, U.S. Forest Service, and local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in Counterdrug operations. CAP can augment marijuana reconnaissance, assist with aerial photography, and transporting staff, critical evidence, documents, parts and witnesses to and from remote areas. Also, advanced technology such as CAP's single-frame video capability can instantaneously transmit reconnaissance photos of remote areas to command centers.

Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program (DCDG)
Sponsoring Agency: BJA
DCDG provides financial and technical assistance to states, state courts, local courts, units of local government, and American Indian tribal governments to develop and implement treatment drug courts that effectively integrate substance abuse treatment, mandatory drug testing, sanctions and incentives, and transitional services in a judicially supervised court setting with jurisdiction over nonviolent, substance-abusing offenders.

Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Academy Training Programs
Sponsoring Agency: DEA
The DEA Office of Training is the preeminent law enforcement training organization for national and international drug law enforcement training. The mission of the Office of Training is to provide technical and non-technical training to DEA personnel and appropriate domestic and foreign police agencies that will improve individual as well as organizational performance and assist in achieving the agency's mission and performance goals as well as those of their assigned police agencies.

Enforcing the Underage Drinking Laws Program
Sponsoring Agency: OJJDP
Enforcing the Underage Drinking Laws program, a $50 million program of block grants, discretionary programs, and training and technical assistance. It is helping all 50 States and the District of Columbia develop comprehensive and coordinated initiatives to enforce State laws that prohibit the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors and to prevent the purchase or consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors (defined as individuals under 21 years of age).

Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC)
Sponsoring Agency: U.S. Department of Homeland Security
FLETC serve as the Federal government’s leader for and provider of world-class law enforcement training. We prepare new and experienced law enforcement professionals to fulfill their responsibilities in a safe manner and at the highest level of proficiency. We also ensure that training is provided in the most cost-effective manner by taking advantage of economies of scale available only from a consolidated law enforcement training organization.

Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program
Sponsor: BJA
The JAG Program allows states and local governments to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime and to improve the criminal justice system.

Juvenile Accountability Block Grant Program (JABG)
Sponsoring Agency: OJJDP
Through the JABG Program, funds are provided as block grants to States that have implemented, or are considering implementation of legislation and/or programs promoting greater accountability in the juvenile justice system. Local and tribal governments can then apply for funds to support local accountability programs. Juvenile accountability means assuring that as a result of their wrongdoing, juvenile offenders face individualized consequences that make them aware of and answerable for the loss, damage, or injury perpetrated upon the victim.

Multiagency Course: Introduction to Basic Drug Intelligence Analysis
Sponsoring Agency: National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC)
The course provides an overview of counterdrug intelligence analysis, introduces students to basic analytical tools and techniques, and allows students to apply newly acquired skills to a "real world" scenario through a comprehensive final practical exercise. Federal, state, and local law enforcement personnel who are interested in the basic skills of intelligence analysis should attend. The course is open to law enforcement personnel only.

Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS)
Sponsoring Agency: Department of Justice
Provides funding for hiring of more police officers under the Universal Hiring Program. The COPS in Schools program provides grants for the hiring of officers to fight crime and disorder around schools. The COPS office also provides funding for equipment and technology; innovative programs (e.g. The Methamphetamine Initiative); training and technical assistance; and program assessment and policy support.

Residential Substance Abuse Treatment for State Prisoners (RSAT) Program
Sponsoring Agency: BJA
The RSAT Formula Grant Program assists states and units of local government in developing and implementing residential substance abuse treatment programs within state and local correctional and detention facilities.

State and Local Law Enforcement Equipment Procurement Program
Sponsoring Agency: BJA
The National Defense Authorization Act established the requirement for procedures to be developed by the Department of Defense that would enable State and Local governments to buy Law Enforcement equipment suitable for counter-drug activities through the Federal procurement channels. Indian tribes that perform law enforcement functions as determined by the Secretary of the interior are also eligible.
